Alvaro Morata’s proposed move from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid is unclear as the Spanish side are only willing to take him on loan until the summer.
Chelsea want a clearer financial agreement from Atletico in regards to purchasing the striker, but Atleti are currently refusing to buy Morata outright.
Chelsea want the LaLiga side to commit to an £8million loan fee with an obligation to permanently buy Morata at the end of the campaign.
Spanish outlet Marca reports Morata, who allegedly earns £8million-a-year, is willing to take a pay cut to rejoin the club he spent two years at as a teenager.
Maurizio Sarri has lost confidence in a player who has been inconsistent since signing for £60million from Real Madrid in 2017, with just nine goals scored in all competitions this season.
He has been rotated up front with Chelsea’s only other forward, Olivier Giroud, who is a target for Barcelona, as Sarri continuously looked for a way to get the best out of a limited attack; he has even resorted to playing Eden Hazard in a unfamiliar striking role.
Sarri hopes to get Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain on board, while an alternative option is Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson, though Cherries manager Eddie Howe has made it clear they are not planning to sell him.
