December 18th: We need to thank NXT General Manager William Regal for his participation in the December 8th WWN Seminar/Tryout and his appearance at EVOLVE 96. Mr. Regal waited on the runway for over five hours before his flight took off and then had to go through two hours of traffic to get to the venue for the WWN Seminar/Tryout. He could have easily backed out when his plane returned to the terminal, and it was still uncertain if he would even make it, but he opted to wait it out so he wouldn’t disappoint anyone. Mr. Regal then gave an over two hour lecture at the WWN Seminar/Tryout, watched 20 tryout matches and then gave another almost 30 minute lecture afterwards. It was a true education for those who participated. We cannot thank Mr. Regal enough for sharing his knowledge. He is a true class act and treasure to the wrestling business. The next WWN Seminar/Tryout will be February 18th in Joppa, MD. We will announce more details soon, including if there will be a special guest.

December 18th: EVOLVE 96 saw Mr. Regal sign autographs and take pictures for over an hour to accommodate all the fans. He made news on the EVOLVE card when he approached Darby Allin and Austin Theory with Priscilla Kelly after their show stealing match. Mr. Regal stated that the independents need new stars in 2018, and isolated them as potential main eventers. He then challenged them to improve their games and go after championships in 2018. It didn’t take Theory long to respond, as he won the FIP World Heavyweight Title from Fred Yehi at EVOLVE 97 the next night. This was a shocking defeat for Yehi, who held the title for over 400 days and is considered the WWN 2017 MVP for his work across the WWN brands. We also need to note that Priscilla Kelly is already the SHINE NOVA Champion, and she successfully defended the championship at SHINE 47 last Saturday against Aja Perera. Now Allin will get his shot at the EVOLVE Title on Jan. 13th in Queens, NY. The future is ready for 2018 in The WWN Family!
December 18th: Sports Illustrated gave exclusive coverage to the Fred Yehi vs. Austin Theory FIP World Heavyweight Title Match at EVOLVE 97 in last week’s column, which also has news from around the wrestling world. They even included video of the entire Yehi vs. Theory match! Watch it here for free!
