Cesc Fabregas’ home debut for Monaco ended in a miserable 5-1 defeat to Strasbourg.
The Spaniard joined the struggling Ligue 1 club on a three-and-a-half year deal earlier this month.
Thierry Henry’s side are in the relegation zone and three points from safety.
Fabregas impressed in his first game for the club, playing the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Marseille.
But the 31-year-old’s error in his second appearance led to Strasbourg’s third goal, after Radamel Falcao’s strike had given the hosts a glimmer of hope.
Ludovic Ajorque and Adrien Thomasson scored twice in five minutes to put the visitors in the ascendancy before Falcao pulled one back.
But Strasbourg restored their two-goal cushion thanks to Ibrahima Sissoko’s wonder goal after Fabregas was dispossessed in the box.
Ajorque completed his brace before Youssouf Fofana added a fifth in injury-time.
Fabregas and co will be looking to put things right on home soil in the French Cup against Metz on Tuesday night.
