As we reported yesterday, WWE announced the release of Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore amid allegations of rape and sexual misconduct. The move to release Enzo came just 24 hours after the company had announced his suspension.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com was the first to report that WWE was unaware of Enzo being investigated by police, as the investigation has been ongoing since the alleged rape incident took place back on October 19th, 2017. Sapp speculated, along with journalist David Bixenspan, that WWE’s quick decision to fire Enzo might have been a result of Enzo’s failure to inform WWE officials that he was the subject of an ongoing police investigation.
PWInsider.com has since released a new report on Enzo’s situation, and the report corroborates that Enzo was not fired by WWE because the company feels he is guilty of the accusations made against him, but because he “hid” news of the police investigation from WWE officials.

The report adds WWE questioned Enzo Amore about the allegations backstage at Raw 25 this week, and Amore denied them, something Amore did publicly in a statement released yesterday via his lawyer. Nevertheless, WWE officials were upset that on a major media day such as Raw 25 they had to deal with questions coming in from media regarding rape allegations as opposed to the big anniversary special.
In the end, Amore’s WWE firing was a culmination of incidents, which included him insulting Big Cass on social media, being thrown off a WWE tour bus, drawing backstage heat on himself, being disliked backstage by talents, and the “straw on the camel’s back”, which was the recent rape allegation.
