Back in December, we reported there have been internal discussions within WWE about running a massive international pay-per-view event in late 2018.
The location being talked about was apparently Melbourne, Australia in a follow-up to the 2002 WWE Global Warning tour, a live event that saw more than 56,000 fans flock to the Colonial Stadium to see The Rock defend the WWE Undisputed Championship against Triple H and Brock Lesnar.
According to The Herald Sun in Australia, WWE is expected to announce sometime during WrestleMania 34 that the company, along with Vist Victoria will be holding an event at The MCG one week after the AFL Grand Final, which takes place on September 29th.
The report adds WWE would be looking to book talent such as John Cena, The Undertaker and Rey Mysterio, for an event that would likely air on PPV and would bring in an estimated $100 million for the Australian economy.

With regards to viewership, the report estimates a potential audience of tens of millions, and notes here have only ever been two pay-per-view events outside the United States.
The venue for the event has a capacity of over 100,000, and should the WWE event indeed take place, it would likely top the current attendance record at the venue which is 56,214. That attendance record, ironically enough, was set by Ronda Rousey when she faced Holly Holm at UFC 193.
The report notes Kosta Pandos, a spokesman for Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren, declined to comment on the event.
