Lynch made her return to WWE programming at SummerSlam, defeating Belair in 26 seconds to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Lynch pinned Belair after hitting a punch and the Manhandle slam.
Belair was originally set to face Sasha Banks at SummerSlam, but it was announced before the match that Banks wouldn’t be able to compete. It was teased that Carmella would replace Banks in the SmackDown Women’s Championship match, but Lynch then took Carmella out and challenged Belair to face her instead.
Lynch kicked off tonight’s SmackDown and said she apologizes for absolutely nothing. The fatal four-way elimination match was made after Lynch declined Belair’s challenge for them to face off in a SmackDown Women’s Championship match tonight.
