– Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to WWE 205 Live and put over tonight’s massive Cruiserweight Championship Tournament semifinals match, as we head to the ring to start eh show off with a little action.
AKIRA TOZAWA & HIDEO ITAMI vs. LINCE DORADO & GRAN METALIK
Lince’s got a new mask with a little Tiger Mask vibe to it, and he starts things off with an excellent back and forth exchange, trading move for move with Tozawa. Dorado snapped over dozens of beautiful arm drag combinations while Tozawa fired right back with quick, brutal strikes and kicks in return. Hideo tagged in to show everybody how to REALLY kick somebody, and the two Japanese stars beat the stuffing out of Lince with quick, alternating tags.
After a brief commercial break Lince finally battles his way back to the corner and makes the hot tag to his partner. Metalik came in like a house on fire, dropping his opponents with springboard dropkicks and crazy headscissors combinations. They did an insane double team spot where Dorado launched off his partner’s back and was shot at least 15 feet into the air, coming down on Tozawa. Metalik came off the top rope but tweaked his knee in the process and Hideo immediately took advantage, kicking the knee out of its socket and planting him with a boot to the jaw. 1…2..3.
Winners: Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami
– Metalik is in really bad shape after the match as the referee checks on him. Dorado shoves Hideo and checks on his partner, but Hideo came back at him and the two nearly came to blows. Kalisto hit the ring and got between the two as they screamed insults at each other in Japanese and Spanish. Awesome.
– We get a video package with Roderick Strong talking about everything he’s worked for on the long, long career he’s had in the wrestling business. He says that winning a championship at WrestleMania has always been the dream, and it’s something that he desperately needs for him, and his family, to validate his career.
– 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick makes his way to the ring and gets a pretty good reception from the fans that are still there. Apparently he’s joining commentary for this next bout…
JACK GALLAGHER vs. MURPHY MEYERS
Good luck Murphy… The dude seriously looks like Heath Slater if he cared about his hair and had an excellent beard. As expected this isn’t much of a match. Gallagher beats him down in the ropes, on the outside, on the ring apron – all the while starring a hole into the soul of Drake Maverick, seating at ringside. Gallagher hit a brutal headbutt and easily pinned Heath Slater’s brother Murphy.
Winner: Jack Gallagher
