According to Dave Meltzer via F4WOnline.com, the current plan is for Kofi Kingston to face Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at the 3/10 WWE Fastlane pay-per-view in Cleveland, Ohio. The announcement will likely be made tonight on Smackdown Live.
Furthermore, it looks like the decision to run with Kingston was made as recently as Monday evening, as there were reportedly alternative plans in place for Bryan’s opponent(s) at both Fastlane and WrestleMania that did not originally include the New Day star.

That’s not altogether surprising given that just a week ago, Kingston wasn’t even supposed to be in the six-man Elimination Chamber match that took place on Sunday night, and was announced as a replacement for the injured Mustafa Ali.
Finally, Meltzer noted that it’s currently unknown whether or not Kingston being inserted into the plans for Fastlane will in any way change WWE’s original plans for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. As previously reported, there was an internal discussion to have Bryan face a “returning Superstar” instead of someone already on the active roster. You can pretty well derive from that a list of potential names.
