It has been several weeks since The Usos appeared in a backstage vignette on Smackdown Live wondering who their opponents will be at WrestleMania this year, and we’re no closer to an actual answer.
There was a lot of chatter recently about a potential defense of the Smackdown Tag Team Championships against The Hardy Boyz, which would put arguably the greatest WWE team of the modern era against arguably the greatest from another era. Both teams actually promoted the match on Twitter, but just this weekend both Matt and Jeff were announced for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that the current plan is for The Usos to defend their titles in a Fatal 4-Way match. The lineup, at least prior to last week’s Smackdown taping, was for Cesaro and Sheamus, Aleister Black and Ricochet, Big E and Xavier Woods to also be involved in the match as The Usos opponents. However, the team of Rusev and Nakamura were working with the champions at this weekend’s live events, so it’s possible they could be swapped into the match.
With regard to Black and Ricochet, who would seem to be a sure thing for a Raw Tag Team title match against The Revival having beaten them twice now, Meltzer is also reporting that that match is no longer the plan for WrestleMania. There may be a segment on Raw this week to start a new, last-minute program with The Revival to get the Raw titles on the card for next Sunday.
