Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks kicked off this weekend’s four-day Starrcast convention with their very own panel on Thursday night at Caesar’s Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
During the panel, host Alex Marvez, who will be joining the All Elite Wrestling commentary team, asked the trio about the importance, as well as the quantity of championship belts that the promotion might have in the future.
Nick Jackson immediately called out the overwhelming amount of titles in WWE, boldly stating that “at this point, titles don’t mean anything”. The group will instead look to make what few titles they do have mean as much as possible.
“We want every title to mean [as much as]the world championship,” Nick said, after declaring that a potential women’s title or set of tag team titles should have every right to headline a major show. That should come as no surprise to anyone, as the Bucks get set to main-event this Saturday night’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view against the Lucha Brothers for the AAA World Tag Team Championships.
Nick then took a shot at the brand new WWE 24/7 Championship, which was jumped on by the “American Nightmare”, who will step into the ring against his own brother, Dustin Rhodes, at Double or Nothing. Below is a full transcript from the segment:
Nick Jackson: “Just watch the WWE product. At this point, titles don’t mean anything. We want to put prestige back in the champions that we have. We’re not gonna have a 24/7 belt. We’re gonna have titles that matter. If it’s the women’s champion, that could be a main event. If it’s a tag team match, that could be a main event. We want every title to mean, like it’s the world championship.”
Cody Rhodes: “We all love Mick Foley, right? What a bad – I felt so bad. He’s standing out there, a living legend. What the f— was he holding? No thought went into that.”
Nick: “Here’s another thing. Our titles are gonna look good. I saw a graphic of that new title and I almost threw up!”
Matt Jackson: “I’m gonna get so much heat and I haven’t said a word!”
Nick: “Who cares, we don’t work for them. We can say anything we want.”
Cody: “I really felt bad for Mick. You gotta know in your soul, this isn’t good.”
