WWE Summerslam 2012 30-Minute Pre-Show
The “WWE: Then, Now & Forever” video ques up and the pre-show begins. and Scott Stanford and Matt Striker welcome us to ringside as the camera pans around the arena. They go over tonight’s top matches, including the WWE Championship match – with CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Big Show. A video package airs recapping the buildup to this match.
Josh Matthews is backstage and introduces the largest athlete on the planet, the Big Show. Big Show says tonight’s main event is not a triple threat. The only threat in this match is him. He’s not some Hollywood superhero – he’s a big nasty Giant. He’s a threat to CM Punk, John Cena and any man living today. He’ll obliterate them tonight and he will be the new WWE Champion.
United States Championship Match: Antonio Cesaro w/Aksana vs. Santino Marella
Cesaro is out first. Aksana introduces him as the future US Champion. Antonio Cesaro says he personifies Greatness and says the word Greatness in 5 different languages – English:, French Italian, German and Swiss. Santino’s music hits and he gets a big pump. Santino comes out and is fired up. He charges to the ring and points at Cesaro confidently.
Both men lock up and and Santino gets the upper hand. Cesaro back in control. He whips Santino into the ropes and Santino does his silly powerwalk to evade Cesaro’s attack. Cesaro in control as he throws Santino into the corner. Santino goes for the Cobra but Cesaro knocks him down before he can get the Cobra on. Cobra is outside the ring. Cesaro with a series of headbutts to Santino’s chest – 2 count. Cesaro dominating Santino on the mat, with a front crossface applied. Both men stand up and Cesaro lands a stiff European uppercut. Cesaro controlling Santino on top. Santino fighting to get to the ropes but Cesaro keeps pulling him back to the center of the ring. Santino kicks free and crawls to the corner again, trying to get the Cobra, which is now in the corner. Cesaro grabs the Cobra and rips it apart with his hands and teeth. Santino freaks out and goes on an offensive rampage. Hiptoss and Santino goes for fly flying headbutt, but nobody home. Cesaro goes for his Neutralizer but Santino flips him over. Santino takes another Cobra out of his shorts but gets distracted by Aksana. Cesaro nails him with the Neutralizer and we have a NEW WWE United States champion.

After the match, Aksana whips out her cell phone and takes a picture of her and the new champion in the ring together.
Backstage, Triple H is taping up his fists and telling referee Scott Armstrong how important his match is tonight. This is bigger than “us” – it’s bigger than Triple H’s family, it’s bigger than the Armstrong family. He’s not asking Armstrong to bend the rules – but there’s not going to be a DQ tonight. This match ends one or two ways – somebody taps out or somebody gets pinned. That’s it. Armstrong shakes his head in agreement. Triple H says this is going to be a fight – a fight to the finish. “Let us fight.”
Scott Sanford and Matt Striker continue to run down the night’s top matches, including Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler, Kane vs. Daniel Bryan and Del Rio vs. Kane. Video package airs recapping the Del Rio vs. Kane angle. Sanford and Striker continue hyping the PPV, with Tout videos and Tweets shown of fans predicting the winner of Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H. WWE SummerSlam 2012 PPV Results
The “WWE: Then, Now & Forever” video airs and then the Summerslam 2012 opening video, featuring clips from the unforgettable moments of the past 24 SummerSlam shows. A storm is near – the perfect storm. Clips of Brock Lesnar’s WWE career are shown and he’s called a force of nature focused on the annihilation of one man – Triple H. Clips are shown of the buildup to Lesnar vs. Triple H. Great video giving the final hype for tonight’s Perfect Storm.
Pyro goes off and we are live inside the Stapes Center. Michael Cole welcomes us to the Silver Anniversary of WWE SumemrSlam. 17, 482 WWE fans are on hand . Cole talks about the first-ever Summerslam in 1988, with the Mega Powers vs. the Mega Bucks main event.
Vickie Guerrero screams “Excuse Me” 3 times and the place goes nuts booing her. She introduces her boyfriend, the brightest star in WWE – Mr. Money in the Bank – Dolph Ziggler.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Chris Jericho:
A clip is shown from last month’s Money in the Bank PPV with Dolph Ziggler grabbing the briefcase. Lights go out and the crowd pops big time. Jericho is on stage in his light-up jacket his music hits. The crowd is very into his entrance, roaring as he walks to the ring. Jericho’s ribs are taped up after the viscous attack from Dolph Ziggler on Friday’s SmackDown.
Fast-paced start to the match with both men running the ropes and landing a series of back and forth strikes. Big chop by Jericho and Dolph goes down. Jericho plays for the crowd and they eat it up. Jericho kicks Dolph while he’s down. Y2J chants. Ziggler goes for a suplex but it’s blocked. Ziggler lands a high knee lift on Jericho and now has the upper hand. 2 count for Ziggler. Loud Y2J chant. Ziggler working him over int he corner, but Jericho fights back, slaps him in the face and chops him. Ziggler charges at Jericho, who throws him outside the ring. Vickie is outraged as Jericho is in control. Jericho jumps off the middle rope to the outside but Ziggler moves and nobody’s home. Ziggler in the ring as the referee starts counting. Ziggler jumps out and works Jericho over. 2 count.
Ziggler screams at Jericho, “You can’t hang with me!” as he continues to work him over. Nice dropkick to Jericho’s hip. 2 count. Ziggler applies a reverse-headlock submission hold. Ziggler in real control here as he puts his foot on Jericho’s chest and gloats for the crowd. Ziggler whips him into the ropes but Jericho hits a flying small package out of nowhere and get a 2 count. Ziggler misses a big Stinger splash into the corner and it takes a lot of out him. Jericho lands a dropkick to Ziggler’s head. Jericho shoulder-blocks Ziggler twice. Ziggler throws Jericho into the corner and hits a fame-asser. Jericho hits a big enziguri.
Ziggler jumps on Jericho’s back and applies a sleeper hold. He’s got in locked in for a minute or so. Jericho finally breaks free. Ziggler gets whipped into the corner. Jericho climbs the turnbuckle and delivers 10 punches to Ziggler’s head. Hurricanrana off the top rope. Jericho goes for the pin – 1 – 2 – no! Loud Y2J chant again and this is one hell of an opening match. Jericho and Ziggler slugging it out back and forth. Jericho hits a running bulldog, flexes for the crowd and goes for the lionsault – but Ziggler gets his knees up and Jericho’s hurting. Ziggler nails the Zig Zag and gets the 1-2-NO! Codebreaker! Ziggler rolls to the outside. Ziggler comes back in the ring, charges at Jericho but gets thrown into the corner. Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho and the place is going crazy. Ziggler taps and the place explodes!

Commercial airs for Slim Jim Steakhouse strips. Footage is shown of downtown Los Angeles. At ringside, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler hype Lesnar vs. Triple H. CNN television host Pierce Morgan is sitting directly behind them. Footage from RAW is shown of Brock Lesnar breaking Shawn Michaels’ arm. They show a tweet from Michaels saying he won’t be at SummerSlam.
Backstage, Matt Striker interviews Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Paul Heyman says he’s the advocate for the most destructive athlete in WWE history, Brrrrcok Lesnar. Tonight, Lesnar will break the spirit of WWE. Brock Lesnar tells Triple H this is a fight he can’t win. Paul Heyman says if Triple H ain’t down with that, he’s got two words for him – TAP OUT.
Daninel Bryan vs. Kane
Bryan’s music hits and the crowd pops big and chants YES! At ringside, a fan screams “YES!” in Daniel Bryan’s face as Bryan screams “NO!” back. The crowd is chanting YES as Daniel Bryan gets on the top rope and tells them NO. Pyro goes off – then the lights – and Kane’s music hits. Kane comes to the ring and more pyro goes off from each ring post. The match starts off with Kane using the most of his side advantage. Bryan tries to use advantage (speed) but Kane is in control. Loud Daniel Bryan chant. Huge boot to the face and Bryan goes down. 2 count for Kane.
Daniel Bryan runs off the ropes and dropkicks Kane’s knee. Bryan starts chopping Kane down with stiff kicks to that knee. Each time he kicks, the crowd screams Yes. Kane grabs Bryan by the throat, throws him into the corner and Bryan winds up outside. Kane chases him out, but Daniel Bryan runs in first and kicks Kane down to the ringside area. Daniel Bryan does a running drive through the ropes onto Kane. A missile dropkick by Daniel Bryan and he’s actually in control. The crowd chants YES and it’s really bothering Daniel Bryan. Bryan lands several big kicks to Kane’s chest. He screams no, the crowd says yes. Kane blocks one of the kicks, stands up and knocks Bryan down. Kane throws Bryan into the corner. He throws him into the opposite corner and his a running clothesline then a sideslam. 2 count for Kane. Kane goes up to the top rope and hits a flying clothesline on Bryan. Kane is heating up and the crowd pops. Kane teases the chokeslam and locks it in, lifts him up but Bryan escapes and runs to the outside. Back in the ring, Bryan slaps Kane in the face everybody is in shock. Kane unloads on Bryan. Back and forth action and Daniel Bryan lands a very stiff kick to Kane’s head. Kane back in control Kane signaling for the tombstone. He goes for the tombstone, but Daniel Bryan rolls him up in a small package for the quick 1-2-3.

Kane freaks out in the ring and then quickly leaves to the back.
Jerry Lawler and Jerry Lawler recap the match and former WCW champion David Arquette is at ringside. Backstage, Kane is going ballistic, throwing things around and searching for Daniel Bryan. Josh Matthews tries to get a word with Kane. Kane grabs him by the throat, screams, “Where is he?!” Matthews says he left and Kane throws him across the room.
Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio comes out dressed up as Batman. Out next is The Miz – with the his “Awesome” blowup letters at the top of the stage. Justin Roberts introduces the match and we’re off. Miz shoves Mysterio down to start the match. Fast chain wrestling and Mysterio gets thrown to the outside. Mysterio comes back and lands some offense. Very fast paced action, with Mysterio running the ropes and hitting several of his signature spots. Miz and Mysterio battle on the outside, with Miz dropping Mysterio on the ringside guard rail. Miz throws Mysterio back in. 2 count. Miz delivers a knee to Mysterio’s back and has a rear submission hold locked in. Miz goes for an attomic drop but Mysterio breaks free. Miz hits a sick move where he has Mysterio over his shoulders tied up (like a torture rack) and then drops down to his knees. Miz jumps on Mysterio, punches him in the face several times and screams, “You’re nothing!” Reverse chin lock applied by The Miz. Mysterio fights back but The Miz is still solidly in control.
Miz poses for the crowd and gets a loud, mixed reaction. Mysterio is in the corner and Miz runs into him. Miz plays to the crowd again and they are certainly into the match. Mysterio goes off the top rope with a cannonball. Mysterio runs the ropes fast, jumps onto Miz like he’s going to do a hurricanrana but gets hit with a powerbomb. Miz in control. Fast back and forth action with Mysterio now in control. Mysterio goes to the top rope but Miz catches him and punches him. Miz climbs to the top rope, goes for a superplex but Miz knocks him down. Mysterio hits a top rope hurricanrana and Miz lands in 619 position. Mysterio lands the 619! Mysterio goes off the top rope and hits a nailing dive – but nobody’s home. Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale but Myterio reverses it and rolls him up for the 1-2-No! The Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale again, nails it and gets the 1-2-3.

Teddy Long and Eve Torres are shown coming out of AJ Lee’s office – and both of them say that she’s doing a great job as RAW GM – and the WWE Universe agrees. CM Punk then walks into the office and goes face-to-face with AJ Lee – who has a giddy look on her face. Punk says that putting the champion in a match where he can lose his title is unfair. AJ remains silent and stares into the distance, while Punk tells her she’s being disrespectful by ignoring him. Punk says tonight, he’ll prove that he’s the Best in the World. Tonight – she’ll be forced to show hi some respect.
Back at ringside, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler hype the next match – the World Heavyweight championship match between Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus. Video package airs recapping their feud.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Sheamus (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio
Lilian Garcia introduces Ricardo Rodriguez, who introduces Albero Del Rio. Del Rio comes out riding in a $250,000 Ferrari. Out next is the champion, Sheamus. Sheamus points at the Ferrari and signals like he might take that one for a joyride too. The bell rings and this one gets physical real fast. Both men are landing several high impact moves. Del Rio kicks Sheamus to the outside follows him out there. Del Rio throws Sheamus into the ring steps and then throws him back in. Del Rio off the top rope and he connects. 2 count. Del Rio stomps on Sheamus’ head and taunts the champion. The crowd boos him. Sheamus laying on the second rope and Del Rio continues the assault. Submission rest hold on the mat by Del Rio. Sheamus fights back, gets to his feet and lands a series of head butts. Sheamus goes off the ropes but Del Rio hits a knee life and the champion is down again. Del Rio pounds his chest and screams Brogue, mocking Sheamus. Sheamus fights back but runs into the corner, but nobody’s home. Del Rio in control, working him over. Del Rio locks in his cross arm bar finisher. Sheamus lifts Del Rio up and slams him down. Sheamus unloading on Del Rio. Near 3-counts from both men. Del Rio getting pissed off and he attacks Ricardo Rodriguez. He pulls Ricardo into the ring but then has regrets it. Ricardo throws his shoe to Del Rio, but Sheamus gets it. While the ref was helping Ricardo out of the ring, Sheamus nailed Del Rio with the shoe. Sheaus nails the Irish Curse back breaker. Del Rio has his foot on the ropes – but the referee still counts the 1-2-3 for the controversial win.

WWE Tag Team Title Match: Kofi Kingston & R-Truth (c) vs. Prime Time Players
Young & O’Neal are out first. They show a Tout video of the Prime Time Players hyping the match. The champions then come out. R-Truth starts out with Darren Young. R-Truth jumps on top of him and lands several high impact moves. Young tags in Titus O’Neal, but R-Truth remains in control. R-Truth tags in Kofi Kingston, who also lands some high-impact offense. The crowd is pretty dead for this one. Pretty solid back and forth action, with the champions in control 72/25. Kofi goes off the top rope and lands a big splash on O’Neal on the outside. R-Truth his Little Jimmy finisher on Darren Young for the win.

Video is shown from this week’s SummerSlam Axxess events in Los Angeles, including WWE superstars and Divas visiting a local children’s hostpial and Thursday night’s WWE SummerSlam Axxess kickoff party in Beverly Hills.
Up next is the WWE Championship match. Video package airs recapping this feud, starting way back at last year’s WWE Survivor Series, when CM Punk won the WWE Championship.
WWE Championship Match: CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Big Show
John Cena’s music hits first and the crowd is awake again. Mixed crowd reaction for Cena. Big Show’s music hits and out he comes. Out next is the WWE Champion, CM Punk. Big Show is in control early, taking down both John Cena and CM Punk. Big Show punches each man in the gut again. Big Show then slaps each man in the chest. John Cena punches Big Show and then CM Punk helps him out. Big Show nails a double suplex on both men and plays to the crowd. big Show throws Cena to the outside.
Big Show goes off the rope to attack Punk, but Punk lands a dropkick to Big Show’s knee. Big Show lands kicks to Big Show’s chest and the crowd chants for Punk. CM Punk teases his Go To Sleep finisher, gets Big Show up most of the way but Big Show fights free. John Cena then gets Big Show on his shoulders for the Attitude Adjustment, but CM Punk breaks it up. Big Show and Cena are down. Punk covers Cena for the 2. Big Show now working on Punk in the corner. Big Show stands on CM Punk’s back – as Punk screams in pain. Big Show throws Punk into the corner and slaps him in the chest. Big Show runs into Cena on the apron, who flies to the outside. Total carnage so far. CM Punk does a springboard leap off the ropes onto Big Show, but Show catches him and slams him down. Big Show gearing up for the WMD punch. John Cena comes from behind, lands a series of punches, runs into the ropes but Big Show spears Cena. 2 count for Big Show.
CM Punk locks in the anaconda vice on the Big Show. Show breaks free. John Cena hits a flying shoulder tackle on Big Show. STF. Big Show stands up and throws Cena into the corner. Cena goes off the top rope but Big Show catches him. Punk now landing offense on Big Show. Punk hits a running knee to to Big Show’s face in the corner. He goes for it again and connects. He goes for it AGAIN and connects again. CM Punk goes for a running bulldog but Big Show throws him down. John Cena off the top rope and he nails a flying legdrop off the top rope onto Big Show. Punk locks in the Anaconda Vice on Big Show as John Cena also locks in the STF at the same time. Big Show taps out – but both men had their submissions locked in at the same time. Cena and Punk argue over the finish while AJ Lee’s music hits and the RAW General Manager comes to the ring.
AJ Lee demands the referee restart the match. Cena and Punk turn around and Big Show chokeslams them both. Big Show gets a 2 count on Cena. Big Show then gets a 2 count on CM Punk. Big Show goes for the WMD punch on Cena, but he ducks and then hits Big Show with the Attitude Adjustment. Punk comes from behind, throws Cena out of the ring and pins Big Show 1-2-3.

CM Punk celebrates in the ring with the WWE title.
They show footage from around Los Angeles, including WWE fans at Vince McMahon’s star at the Hollywood walk of fame.
At ringside, they show several celebrities sitting behind the announcer’s booth, including singer Fred Durst, Maria Menunos (wearing a Bob Backlund shirt) and former WCW Champion David Arquette (with a replica World Heavyweight title belt).

Michael Cole and recap the US Title change from the Summerslam pre-show, with Antonio Cesaro defeating Santino.
Singer Kevin Rudolph comes out and plays his song “Don’t Give Up” – the theme song for tonight’s WWE SummerSlam PPV. The WWE divas come out and dance with Kevin Rudolph on stage while he performs.
We get a recap of the Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H feud.
Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H
Brock Lesnar comes out with Paul Heyman wearing the same gear he wore at Extreme Rules. Out next is Triple H, who does his standard ring entrance as Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman look on.
Lesnar charges at Triple H and rams him into the corner. Triple H fights back but Lesnar rams him into the corner again. Lesnar goes for the kimura lock but Triple H breaks the hold. Lesnar again rams him into the corner. Lesnar goes for the kimura and jumps onto Triple H. Triple H breaks free, throws Triple H into the corner. Triple H clotheslines Brock Lesnar outside of the ring. Lesnar runs back in and gains control of Triple H, ramming him into the corner and nailing him with a big clothesline. High knee by Triple H takes Lesnar down. Lesnar clotheslines Lesnar to the outside of the ring and talks trash to him – “This is my house! WWE!” Lesnar looks pissed. Lesnar comes in the ring and lands some heavy punches on Triple H. Both men are on the outside and Lesnar is pounding away at Triple H. Lesnar holds Triple H’s arm behind his back and slams him onto the announcers table. Lesnar goes into the ring and Triple H’s arm is really hurting. Lesnar taunts the crowd and says “This is my ring.” Triple H comes back in and Lesnar continues to work on his arm. Lesnar goes for the kimura again but Triple H is fighting for his life to not have his arm broken like Shawn Michaels. Lesnar throws Triple H into the corner and Paul Heyman applauds Lesnar. Triple H is down and Lesnar stomps on his arm. Triple H goes to the outside. They brawl on the outside and Lesnar is mostly in control.
Back in the ring, Lesnar continues to dominate. Triple H is really selling the arm, which Lesnar has been focusing on Triple H’s injured arm for most of the match. Back outside, Triple H throws Lesnar into the announcer’s table and Lesnar appears to have hurt his hand. Triple H punches Lesnar in the gut and Lesnar screams, “Oh, not my stomach.” Back in the ring, Lesnar tries the kimura again but Triple H wont give it to him. Triple H hits Lesnar with a running knee and he goes down. Triple H hits Lesnar with a spinebuster and then a kick to the gut. Triple H sets up the pedigree, but Lesnar reverses it and gets him up for the F5. Triple H breaks free, kicks him in the gut and hits the pedigree! 2 count for Triple H.
The referee is asking Triple H if he can continue. Paul Heyman is going crazy at ringside – screaming to Brock, “This is the fight that he wanted! This is your moment!” Triple H says he can. Lesnar gets him up for the F5 but only gets a 2-count. Lesnar goes for the kimura again but Triple H punches him in the gut. Lesnar sinches in a flying kimura lock and takes Triple H to the ground. Triple H makes it to the ropes and lands a series of punches to the kidney of Brock Lesnar. Pedigree out of nowhere. Triple H goes down for the pin but Lesnar locks in the kimura again! Hunter is trying to hang on, punching Lesnar in the gut. Triple H can’t take the pain and taps out.
Winner by Submission: Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman celebrate in the ring before heading to the back. Triple H is laying hurt in the ring. He finally gets to his feet and the crowd chants, “You tapped out.” Triple H tells the crowd, “I’m sorry.”
The crowd chants Triple H as he exits the ring and walks to the back, disappointed. Triple H looks emotional and Michael Cole speculates if this is the end for Triple H. The show goes off the air.
