Arsenal vs Chelsea: Mesut Ozil could be recalled to Gunners squad for Premier League clash, Unai Emery says

Posted on March 1, 2019

Mesut Ozil could be recalled to Arsenal’s matchday squad against Chelsea on Saturday, with talkSPORT bringing you full LIVE commentary of the Premier League clash.

The German playmaker did not make the Gunners’ bench for their 1-0 defeat to West Ham last weekend.

Ozil has not been a regular under Unai Emery, the Arsenal manager, this season, despite him being the club’s best-paid player with a salary of £350,000-a-week.

But Emery could give the 30-year-old, who has been linked with moves to Inter Milan and Juventus, a fresh start this weekend.

He said: “I’ve spoken to him because I want consistency.

“He’s had some injuries and these injuries mean that sometimes he is okay and sometimes he isn’t okay.

“I want every player to give the same work everyday to be okay for every match. With Mesut it’s the same.

“He didn’t play the last matches but to me he’s just like any other player.

“This Saturday he can be with us if he’s okay. Now? He’s training consistently with his work over the past two weeks and I think he can be.”
