Jadon Sancho stunned by 'mad' £100m transfer reports

Posted on March 1, 2019

The Borussia Dortmund star has expressed his amazement at the prospect of returning to England for a massive fee

Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho has reacted with amazement to the prospect of being sold for £100 million ($131m/€114m).

The teenage winger has starred for Dortmund since joining the club from Manchester City, and has contributed eight assists to the cause.

A number of major Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in luring the 18-year-old back to England, and it has been claimed that the German club could seek a massive fee for the youngster.

“That’s mad! Woah! I don’t know what to say to that,” he replied when quizzed on such a prospect.

“Do I feel like playing in England again? I don’t know. It’s the future. You never know what could happen, so we wait and see.

“I’m happy to be a part of Dortmund. Obviously I have got to say thank you to the (Dortmund) manager (Lucien Favre) for playing me, trusting and believing in me.”

Sancho’s rapid rise has also seen him included in the England squad for upcoming games against Croatia and Spain in the UEFA Nations League.

But that too was a shock to his system.

“I was at training when I first got the call-up and straight away I called my parents,” Sancho told reporters.

“Obviously they were just delighted for me, and I just couldn’t stop smiling for the whole day.

“I was a bit surprised to be fair because obviously I’m so young, I’ve got a lot to learn, I’m just grateful he [Southgate] is seeing my progress in the Bundesliga and I’m just very thankful.”

Sancho could make his international debut against Croatia in the Nations League on Friday, or three days later against Spain.

“It means a lot to me, especially my family,” he said.

“When I was a young kid, I always dreamed of obviously playing for my country. That’s the biggest thing that could ever happen to a young kid like me.

“It would be a dream come true [to make my debut against Croatia]. I couldn’t ask for anything better than that.

“Obviously I just have to keep on working hard in training and see what the manager does.”
