Maurizio Sarri is unsure about Eden Hazard’s Chelsea future amid continued interest from Real Madrid.
The Blues star has been linked with an £88million summer move to the Spanish capital.
Reports in Spain claim Hazard will push through a “dream” move to Real at the end of the season and Sarri was asked for clarification about where the 28-year-old will be next season.
“No, no. I know very well that he is discussing with the club but I don’t know anything else at the moment,” he said in his press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham where they trail 1-0 from the first leg.
“I don’t know if he has decided yet that he wants to stay here or have another experience in another club.”
Sarri questioned the mentality of his players after their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.
And Hazard, who has scored 12 goals and registered 10 assists this season, admitted his manager thinks he should be contributing more.
He said: “I’ve frustrated all my managers and now I’m still frustrating Sarri.
“I frustrated [Jose] Mourinho. They think I need to score more, do more of this or that. And the next coach, I’ll frustrate him too.”
In response, Sarri dubbed Hazard an “individual” in his pre-Tottenham press conference.
He said: “Sometimes [he does frustrate me]! I prefer him when he speaks with his feet.
“He is more an individual player than a leader. He is very important of course because he’s a great player.
“He can win the match in two minutes, sometimes one, but at the moment he is not a leader.”
Hazard has made no secret of his admiration of Real Madrid and has flirted with the club on numerous occasions.
He was honest when recently asked if he would like to join the club. “Why not?” he replied.
“You know it very well. You’re asking the question, but you know what the answer will be so you don’t have to ask it.
“I’ve won everything in England, apart from the Community Shield, but that doesn’t mean I’m leaving. I’ve always said that I wanted to explore something different after England but there are also things that might make me stay.”
