A Dominant Home Opener
MOORHEAD, Minn. — A quartet of pins and a trio of forfeits helped No.11-ranked Concordia roll over St. Olaf 53-0 in only 48 minutes. The 53 points is the second highest total in a dual match in program history as the Cobbers remain unbeaten in dual meets this season at 2-0.

Concordia took advantage of a 12-0 head start and then rattled off two pin falls followed by a technical fall to take a 29-0 lead at the halfway point of the match. Yonas Gebreab and Jake Long recorded the pins for CC. Gebreab is now 9-5 on the year after earning only 10 wins in all of last season. Long, who is ranked fourth in the nation at 149 in the latest NWCA poll, wasted little time in recording his third pin fall of the year. He put his opponent’s shoulders on the mat at the 1:33 mark of the first period and is now 9-3 in 2013.
Kyle LeDuc tried to follow suit with the third pin of the night but he came away with an 18-5 technical fall at the 6:09 mark. It was LeDuc’s team-leading 10th win of the year and improves his overall record to 10-2. He now has 54 career victories.
Ben Cousins gritted out a 4-2 decision at 165 to push the Cobber lead to 32-0. It was one of the two bouts in the dual decided by a decision. Cousins, who is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Finn Grinaker Cobber Open last weekend, never trailed in the match and recorded his fifth win of the year. That matches the win total he had in his freshman season in2012-13.
Sebastian Gardner and Delson Saintal bookended pin falls wins with a Chris Harrison forfeit victory in between. Gardner got the pin at the 4:23 mark and then Saintal picked up his third pin of the year by attacking from the start of the match and finishing off his opponent at 1:53. Gardner is now 8-5 on the year and Saintal evens his record at 6-6. Harrison joins LeDuc as the team’s win leader. He is now 10-2 for the year.
The final match of the night was a lesson in perseverance and determination. No.10-ranked Cody Kasprick wore down his opponent at 285 and went on to win 7-2. Kasprick only allowed escape points as he matched LeDuc’s win total of 10 on the year. Kasprick is now 10-3 in 2013-14 and ups his career win total to 68. He is now one win shoy of posting double-digit win totals in all four of his collegiate seasons.
Concordia will now return to multi-team invitational competition. The Cobbers will participate in the Jamestown Open on Saturday, Nov. 23 in their last meet before the Thanksgiving break.
