Roode to Still Work NXT, Beach Balls Banned, Superstar Shakeup

Posted on July 31, 2020

It appears that the rumored Superstar Shakeup is probably not going to be happening soon after all. The Wrestling Observer reported a while back that another shakeup was scheduled to take place shortly after SummerSlam. Cageside Seats now claims that news regarding the shakeup has not been released and it is not likely to happen now. This past week, we saw John Cena return to Raw, as well as Bobby Roode and Shelton Benjamin come over to Smackdown. The feeling is that if a Superstar Shakeup were to take place, the company would’ve saved all of those roster moves for that particular show. There are still some rumored NXT call ups that could be taking place soon though.
As we all know by now, Bobby Roode officially debuted on WWE’s main roster last night. He defeated Aiden English on Smackdown. His debut on the main roster had been rumored pretty much ever since he lost the NXT Championship to Drew McIntyre at Takeover: Brooklyn a few days prior. WWE has confirmed that Roode will still be working in NXT for a while, likely to appear on some live event shows that he is advertised for. It does seem likely that he would return to give proper closure to his feud with Drew McIntyre and Roderick Strong, but it is unknown if Roode is still going to be working television dates with the developmental brand.
As mentioned before, the SummerSlam and Raw shows from this past week saw numerous fans bringing beach balls to the show. Some fans and WWE crew members found the beach balls to be distracting and disrespectful, while others haven’t seemed to mind it as much. Regardless, PWInsider has reported that WWE banned beach balls, pool noodles, and other inflatable items from last night’s Smackdown show. While a few fans did manage to sneak beach balls past security, they managed to confiscate them and remove them very rapidly. The report mentions that the ban will probably be a permanent one for all future WWE shows.
