It has unfortunately just been reported that yet another prominent wrestler has passed away. According to several different reports, legendary wrestler Dick Slater died earlier this week at the age of 67. Slater wrestled in the early 70s-late 90s, and primarily competed for the NWA, and he also wrestled for WCW as well. Slater won the Georgia Heavyweight Championship, NWA United States Championship, NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship, NWA TV Championship, as well as several other NWA titles during his career. The NWA put out a statement shortly after his passing was reported, and WWE later did the same. Les Thatcher also called Slater a great friend and one fantastic in-ring performer.

Shane McMahon is still listed as being the Commissioner of WWE’s SmackDown show, but he hasn’t appeared on the show very often this year, and has instead left Paige to run the show as the onscreen General Manager. During SmackDown 1000, Shane reappeared to take part in a segment also involving Vince and Stephanie McMahon. Fans of Shane McMahon will be delighted to know that his resurgence on SmackDown this week was not just a one-off appearance. PWInsider reports that the angle was done as a way to reintroduce McMahon to the audience. He is expected to be worked into future storylines now and he should be appearing on SmackDown regularly in the very near future.
With each passing day, it seems more and more names are being announced for WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view, Evolution. The likes of Trish Stratus, Lita, and Torrie Wilson are confirmed to step back into the ring during the event, and other former wrestlers such as Michelle McCool, Molly Holly, and Ivory are also rumored to be appearing now. Another former WWE personality has just been reported for the show later this month. Per PWInsider, WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze will be featured on the Evolution pay-per-view, but there is just no word on what her role for the event will be at the moment. Fans can look forward to seeing Blayze back on WWE programming during Evolution on October 28th.
