Minnesota State Ranked Fifth in Latest D2Wrestling.com Super Region 3 Rankings

Newberry, S.C. — Led by six wrestlers ranked in their respective weight classes, the Minnesota State wrestling squad moved up to fifth in the D2Wrestling.com Super Region 3 rankings.

The top-ranked Maverick of the bunch is Matt Mincey (R-Sr., 157 lbs.), who ranks second in his weight class. Mincey is also the lone nationally ranked Maverick at this point in time, where he is currently ranked sixth. Scott VanDeLoo (Sr., 184 lbs.) ranks third in his weight class. Both Mincey and VanDeLoo are currently undefeated on the season, with Mincey holding a 6-0 record, and VanDeLoo boasting a 9-0 record.

Alphonso Vruno (Sr., 141 lbs.) is also ranked third in his weight class. Vruno moved up after a big win over fourth-ranked Rudy Guillen (U-Mary) in their previous dual. Adam Cooling (Jr., 174 lbs.) continues his stellar season, where he currently ranks fourth. Darick Vancura (Jr., 197 lbs.) and Malcolm Allen (R-Sr., 285 lbs.) top off the rankings where they both rank sixth in their weight classes.

DII Super Region III Rankings

The Mavericks will have a big test ahead of them this weekend as they head to the two-day National Duals in Fort Wayne, Ind. The duals will begin on Friday and will conclude on Saturday.
