MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team will officially open practice for the 2018-19 campaign on Wednesday.
The Dragons return almost all of their starters from last year, including senior Zach Scott, who competed at the national tournament last year at 141 pounds, and Joey Schumacher, who narrowly missed a trip to nationals of his own with a fifth-place finish at the regional tournament.
Sophomore Cole Jones also returns after compiling a 20-17 record at 125 pounds last season and picking up a fifth-place finish at the regional tournament, also just missing out on a trip to nationals. The only other senior on the team is Adam Blees, who finished 17-10 last season.
Head coach Kris Nelson is in his 10th season as head coach of the Dragons, and will be assisted by former Dragon standout Blake Bosch (second season), Justin Solberg (fourth season) and Tyler Lehmann (second season).
