The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is taking place right now, and the night is meant to honor some of the greatest legends and stars from wrestling’s past. One of the inductees going in this evening is The Hart Foundation. Bret Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart worked together to form one of the most influential tag teams in WWE history. It makes sense for the team to enter the Hall of Fame, so during tonight’s ceremony, the team finally received the honor. Bret Hart was joined by Jim Neidhart’s daughter, WWE Superstar Natalya, who accepted the induction on Neidhart’s behalf given that he passed away last year. The speech was going well with stories about Hart and Neidhart’s days as a tag team, but it took an unexpected turn later on.
Hart and Natalya were in the midst of giving their Hall of Fame speech when a fan rushed into the ring and put his hands on “The Hitman.” WWE cameras were turned off momentarily as the fan was grabbed and taken away by security guards. When cameras were turned back on, fans saw tons of wrestlers in the ring comforting Nattie and Hart and asking if they should continue on with the speech. Xavier Woods, Big E, Heath Slater, Curtis Axel, Ronda Rousey, and other stars came in to speak to the former world champion. The fans in the Barclays Center booed the intruding fan as he was carried out of the arena. 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick then informed the audience members that the speech will continue and that the fans should be ignored.
Natalya and Hart continued on with the rest of their speech afterwards with no issues. WWE will likely cut the attempted attack out of the show, but fans have captured the footage of the fan being carried away and have posted it all over social media. WWE has a strict policy against fans who rush into the ring and attempt to attack the talent. Offenders are issued lifetime bans from all future WWE events, and that will likely be the case here. After the speech, WWE brought out Hulk Hogan to induct Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake as planned. There is currently no word on why the fan decided to attack Bret Hart during the ceremony.
