WWE has made another announcement for tonight’s episode of SmackDown.
With WWE Champion Brock Lesnar back in the United States after Crown Jewel, he’ll be appearing on SmackDown tonight. Though most of the roster has faced travel delays in Saudi Arabia, Dave Meltzer reported earlier today that “Lesnar and Paul Heyman were able to leave the country immediately on the private jet Lesnar is given for these events.”
Bayley defending her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross has also been confirmed for tonight, and Meltzer wrote that a number of NXT wrestlers were being flown to SmackDown. The episode is taking place at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.
Lesnar retained his WWE title against Cain Velasquez in the opening match of the Crown Jewel main card. The match went just over two minutes, with Lesnar catching Velasquez in a Kimura for the submission.
There was a post-match angle where Lesnar refused to let go of the hold after submitting Velasquez. Rey Mysterio eventually fought Lesnar off with a steel chair after Lesnar initially stopped him and continued to attack Velasquez.
With “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt winning the Universal Championship from Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel, the WWE and Universal titles are currently both on SmackDown.
