Punk Takes a Dig at Cabana, Goldust Thanks Fans, Taz at Starrcast

Posted on July 2, 2020

CM Punk has caused a bit of a commotion within the wrestling world over the past few days. Not only did he make a surprise return to wrestling during an indie show while under a mask over the weekend, but he recently talked about why he will not appear on any wrestling podcasts. Last night, comedian Ron Funches saw Punk’s comments and asked the former WWE Champion if he wanted to be on his own podcast. Punk responded by taking a shot at his former friend Colt Cabana. Punk infamously appeared on Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast in 2014 to discuss his WWE departure. Cabana and Punk eventually had a falling out, and Cabana later filed a lawsuit against Punk, officially ending their long friendship.

Promise not to sue me for being a good friend (then sign a legally binding agreement that you’re not a greedy steaming pile of ungrateful snake shit) and I’ll consider it.

Dustin Rhodes will be appearing at All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing event next month, but he won’t be competing as Goldust. Instead, he is wrestling as himself and will be taking on his brother Cody Rhodes during the show. Yesterday, Rhodes released a tweet thanking all of his fans for their support ever since the match was announced over the weekend. He said that he has been “humbled” by the kind words from his fans and friends in the wrestling business. Rhodes left WWE earlier this year so that he would be able to compete at Double or Nothing. Rhodes and his brother have wanted to have a proper singles match against each other for a number of years now. They will both get their wish during Double or Nothing on May 25th.

It is incredible the amount of love I have received from colleagues, and fans. I truly had no idea of the amount of love given. I am truly humbled. Thank you! ?????? #KeepSteppin

It was reported yesterday that Starrcast would make a major guest announcement at some point later in the week. Given that a number of current superstars and legends in the past have already been confirmed for the event, fans have been curious to know who this person will be. It has been confirmed that ECW legend and former WWE commentator Taz is coming to Starrcast this year. The former wrestler rarely makes these types of appearances, so this is a rather major get for Starrcast Founder Conrad Thompson. The likes of Bret Hart, Sting, Eric Bischoff, The Undertaker, and more will also be part of Starrcast. This will be the second official Starrcast event, and it takes place on May 24th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
