Eczacibasi and Vakıfbank are the two oldest teams in Turkish Volleyball League. Both of them won many cups, titles and medals. Some of the biggest volleyball super stars have played at some point of their career in these clubs. These two team were also pioneers the development of volleyball in Turkey and have had a bih impact on how the people get volleyball in the country.
Eczacibasi and Vakifbank have met on the court in the past and they are going to face again at 14:00 (local time) on 1st of November. For sure, this match will give the volleyball supporters a lot of emotion and excitement. We could expect some great rallies and hard battle.
One more thing- this match is probably not going to finish fast, because both teams. It will be have transferred many starts. Of course, the aim was to build better and stronger squads.
Eczacibasi have already had two super stars who are Neslihan Darnel (TUR) and Maja Poljak (CRO). De La Cruz (DOM) who is the best scorer of Dominican Republic, Christiane Fürst (GER), who is one of the best middle blockers in the world, Jordan Larson (USA) who is one of the most complicated spiker, have joined to the team this year and they are very good and show a great desire for win. This team is very dangerous and strong.
Vakıfbank have already had Gozde Sorsırma(TUR) and Naz Aydemir(TUR) who are the best Turkish wing spiker and setter respectively. On the other hand, Vakifbank wants to have the best of the best, this is why they’ve transferred super stars too. First and foremost we could note the transfer of Sheilla Castro (BRA) who won two times the Olympics gold medal. She is very famous among volleyball fans and we know that she can change the score every time. Milena Rasic (SRB) is another star who is transferred to Vakıfbank. She is young, very talented and good blocker. Elitsa Vasileva (BUL) who is one of the best scorer in the world has also joined the team. If you don’t remember – Vasilevaholds the world record for best Women’s scorer by scoring 57 points in Korean national league. What could this show us? Vasileva could be really a danger for the opponents, and for sure every team have to pay a special attention to her skills.
Robin de Kruijf (NED) is another transfer who is young and verytalented and everyone expects that she could contribute to her team in the best possible way. .
But what happened in the past when these both team have met on the court?
Vakıfbank had eliminated Ezcacibasi in 2011-2012-2013 Champions League at second leg and in 2014 at final four. This could affect mentally Ezcacibasi because being eliminated by the same team four times in a row is very annoying. On the other hand, Eczacibasi wants to change this bad lose series, so maybe there will be a great volleyball battle to be seen.
Vakıfbank won the Super Cup and their form is high while Eczacibasi won their last match (3-2) against Nilufer Belediyesi without De La Cruz. This result shows Eczacibasi’s form is not maximum but it is a derby and the team is expected to give its best. Eczacibasi wants to beat their biggest opponent, but will Vakifbank allow them?
