Hopkins Wrestling Club is pleased to announce the Head Coach for its 2020-2021 inaugural season, Kelli (Rasmussen) Metzger.
Kelli started wrestling at Blue Earth Area High School in Minnesota where she was the first female Varsity wrestler at her school. Kelli continued to wrestle in college at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan where she was a two-time Conference All-American and at Winona State University where she was a two-time NCWA National Champion and Runner-up.
In addition to High School and Collegiate wrestling, Kelli has competed nationally where she was a Cadet/Junior Women’s National Champion in 2003, a Cadet/Junior Women’s Nationals Runner-up in 2004, and she placed third at the Cadet/Junior Women’s Nationals in 2005 and 2006.
While also competing at a national level for the MN/USA Storm Womens’ Team, Kelli has continued to be a part of the effort to bring female wrestling to Minnesota through coaching with the MN/USA Storm Womens’ wrestling team.

Kelli has a degree in Physical Education, Development Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE), and Health Education. Kelli teaches Physical Education in the Minnetonka School District, where she previously coached wrestling at Minnetonka Middle School East.
“Kelli (Rasmussen) Metzger has been a part of girls wrestling in Minnesota for nearly 20 years,” said Chad Shilson, MN/USA Girls’ & Women’s Wrestling Director. “Having won Fargo during those early, developing years of girls wrestling, along with having been a wrestling coach in the Minnetonka ISD for several seasons, Kelli brings an understanding of both athlete and coach, to this new position. MN/USA Wrestling and Minnesota Girls Wrestling is excited to see her help grow the sport in her new role.”
