FOXBOROUGH, MA — A Rhode Island man with an “intense dislike” for the New England Patriots threatened a shooting at Gillette Stadium, according to police. Tobias Gray, 44, of East Providence, was arrested at his home Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after a concerned citizen told police Gray made the threat on Facebook after the Patriots signed receiver Antonio Brown, according to police.
Gray, who was charged with uttering a terroristic threat, wore a Giants jersey during his court appearance in Providence Monday.
According to police, Gray’s Facebook post read, “I’m going to pull a white boys school shooting at Foxboro you might as well hand them the ring right now. I’m if I ever get my hands on a gun, which I don’t have one yet, but I’m looking. I will go shoot up random people at Foxboro.”
The post was deleted over the weekend. Gray’s attorney told WBZ his client was upset about the Patriots signing Brown and he never intended to harm anyone.

Foxborough police said they are leading the investigation into the threat. Gray is being held on charges of fugitive of justice and uttering a terroristic threat while the investigation is underway. Police said he’s expected to waive extradition and face an arraignment in Wrentham District Court in the next day or two.
“Chief (William) Baker has indicated that the Foxborough Police are withholding comment at this time on any specific action our agency may have taken, or may take in the future, in response to the ongoing challenge of malevolent or criminal social media posts,” Foxborough police said in a statement. “In general, Chief Baker says the department will respond vigorously and in close collaboration with our local, state and federal partners to take appropriate action as the law allows.”
