DES MOINES, IA – A new poll in Iowa has Elizabeth Warren leading among probable caucus goers in that state. The top five is rounded out by Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris
After the top five, no candidate polled higher than 3 percent.
The poll by the Des Moines Register, CNN, and Mediacom, was conducted Sept. 14-18 among 602 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
Warren was listed as the first choice of 22 percent of voters, compared to 20 percent who picked Biden. The poll also asked people their second choice. Warren was picked 22 percent of the time compared to 10 percent who chose Biden.
More troubling for Biden is that the percentage of voters who view him favorably dropped to 66 percent from 72 percent while his unfavorable rating increased to 17 percent from 14 percent.
Meanwhile, Warren’s favorable rating grew to 75 percent from 71 percent.
The poll also had bad news for Bernie Sanders. His favorable rating dropped to 58 percent from 70 percent in June.
Pollsters also found that a heavy majority of voters would rather have a candidate with a strong chance of beating President Trump as opposed to a candidate who agrees with them on major issues.
According to the poll, 63 percent of voters said beating Trump was the priority compared wit 31 percent who said they wanted a candidate who agrees with them on major issues.
