2017 was a bumpy ride for a lot of reasons, but regardless of how spiteful an era maybe, for most people, there are books to confide in – don’t you think so? Whenever I see people reading books on a subway, on the train or in a café, I feel an immense amount of solace in their situation. Easily one of the best books of 2017, this one by Iranian-American poet Kaveh Akbar is an outstanding book of poetry. The deftness in the language is a steal. The book is majorly about finding beauty in pain, misery, addiction and loss.
