Arsenal legend David Seaman has paid tribute to retiring Petr Cech and has joined the debate on who is the best goalkeeper in Premier League history.
Cech announced on Tuesday that he will hang up his gloves at the end of the season after a decorated career in English football.
The 36-year-old has won 14 major trophies since first signing for Chelsea in 2004.
He won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and Champions League and Europa League crowns in 11 years at Stamford Bridge, before joining Arsenal in 2015 and adding one more FA Cup triumph to his personal haul.
Cech has been hailed as one of the finest goalkeepers to ever play in the Premier League, but many fans have disagreed with the suggestion he is the all-time greatest.
And former England number one Seaman has weighed in on the discussion by revealing his top five keepers of the Premier League era on talkSPORT.
Seaman says Cech ‘has to be up there with the greatest’ having won the Premier League four times and having also lifted the Champions League during his career.
He told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “Cech is up there, you’ve got to say that because of what he’s won, but not only that, he set a different standard for goalkeepers.
“The way he kept goal was brilliant. He wasn’t flash, which is exactly what I like in a goalkeeper.
“I don’t want a goalkeeper to make camera saves all the time. When you can catch it, catch it, don’t push it away and do two twists and a somersault. That’s why I like him.
“He’s up there in the all-time greats in the Premier League because of how many times he won it and he wont the Champions League as well, which is massive.”
