Every year, UEFA releases its benchmarking report as the governing body continues to analyse financial and other off-the-pitch developments in European football.

It’s no different this January with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin delightedly announcing positive trends across the board.

And with figures from the 2017 financial year fully reported we can get a real sense of just what top clubs are spending and accruing in their quests for glory.

Some sides spend big on wages in the hope they can tempt the best stars in the world to join them, while others scrimp and save, like Tottenham Hotspur.

But which clubs reported the biggest total wage bills? Find out the figures below.

20. AC Milan – Wage bill for the 2017 financial year = €128million (£113.09m)

19. Southampton – Wage bill for the 2017 financial year = €131million (£115.74m)
