It’s been a month since the late Carrie Fisher made her final appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and now the host is paying tribute to the actress, who passed away on Dec. 27, in the most Ellen fashion: with a touching video montage of her friend’s visits.
“Before I go, I want to say something about my friend Carrie Fisher,” the comedian began. “I knew her for a long time and she’s been on the show many times.”
The beloved emcee reflected on her friendship with Fisher: “I love when she was here. She made me laugh so hard. She was smart. She was funny. She was hilariously honest about herself and the world around her.”
DeGeneres then cut to a video interview that showed her asking the Star Wars star if she is finally embracing her iconic role as Princess Leia, to which Fisher responds, “Embracing it? No, it follows me around like a vague exotic smell.”
We then see segments of the actress wearing earmuffs and hilariously trying to sell tickets to Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the street, a touching #TBT of Fisher and her mom Debbie Reynolds, as well as a comparison between a Carrie’s baby photo and Donald Trump.
