West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic needs to take a leaf out of Aaron Ramsey’s book, according to Ray Parlour.
The Arsenal legend has criticised the Hammers star for his recent behaviour as he eyes a move to the Chinese Super League.
Arnautovic, 29, has had his head turned by a big-money offer from a Chinese club and now wants to leave the London Stadium.
The Austrian was left out of the Hammers squad for the 2-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday, with reports claiming he made himself unavailable to play.
Latest claims suggest the deal is now off the table, although with the Chinese transfer window closing at the end of February, there is still a chance a deal could happen.
It’s another sorry transfer story for West Ham supporters, who went through a similar scenario with former favourite Dimitri Payet.
And Parlour has criticised Arnautovic, saying he is ‘not interested in the club or the fans’.
Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the former Arsenal midfielder said: “Aaron Ramsey, you know he’s going to leave but he still puts in a performance like he did against Chelsea, he’s still playing for the Arsenal shirt.
“That is how to be a professional footballer.
“Marko Arnautovic is how not to be a professional footballer.
“West Ham have been fantastic for him, they really got his career back on track after Stoke.
“He’s a good player and people love him at West Ham, but suddenly he thrown his toys out of the pram and has said, ‘I cant play, my head’s not right’.
“That’s not being a footballer!
“It just shows you the difference between a true professional and a footballer who is just in it for the money, who is not interested in the club and not interested in the fans.
“I hate to see players like that.”
