Liverpool are to start entertaining offers from kit suppliers as they plan for parity with Manchester United’s £75million-per-season Adidas agreement.
The Reds’ existing deal with New Balance expires at the end of next season, and Peter Moore, the club’s CEO, admitted Liverpool will open the market to potential suppliers.
In the seven years since Liverpool put pen to paper on their £45million-per-season agreement with New Balance, under the Warrior banner, their top six rivals have all signed new big-money kit deals.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have agreements worth between £60million to £75million-per-season, and Liverpool reportedly want to match the Red Devils’ deal.
United signed their £750million deal over 10 years with Adidas in 2014, and the Evening Standard claim Liverpool are aiming for a figure to match the Old Trafford club’s when they agree new terms.
Liverpool’s agreement with New Balance was signed with the club finishing eighth in the Premier League and out of the Champions League for the third successive season, but their value has skyrocketed in the years since.
Jurgen Klopp has restored the Reds to Europe’s elite, with a Champions League final appearance last season and the Anfield club currently leading the race for Premier League success this term.
Furthermore, Liverpool look set to become the first football club in history to record pre-tax profits in excess of €100million for the most recent financial year.
