The reigning Premier League champions travel to London for a tough clash against Mauricio Pochettino’s side
Manchester City will attempt to keep pace with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table when they face Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Monday.
Spurs suffered heavily at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s side last season, losing 4-1 at the Etihad and 3-1 at home, so they will be eager to avoid a similar fate in 2018-19.
However, it is sure to be a difficult task, with City coming into the match on the back of a seven-game unbeaten run, with eight goals scored in their last two games alone.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently find themselves outside the top four in fifth place – albeit thanks to goal difference – but a win would see them leapfrog the champions.

Concerns over the suitability of the Wembley pitch have been dismissed by Guardiola in the lead up to the game and the Catalan is more concerned about handling the Spurs players.
Jacksonville Jaguars played the Philadelphia Eagles at the venue on Sunday, just a day before the Spurs-City showdown, leaving little time for ground staff to prepare the playing surface.
“I think the Premier League doesn’t like it too much but it is what it is,” Guardiola said. “Hopefully Tottenham can finish a stadium as quickly as possible but it is not necessary to complain about that.
“We have to adapt quickly, figure out that the pitch will not be in perfect conditions and adapt.”
City claimed a 7-2 advantage over Spurs over their two league meetings last season, beating them 4-1 at home before recording a 3-1 win at Wembley, but Guardiola is taking nothing for granted.
“They were my first defeat here and I realised how strong they are,” stressed the Catalan. “Last season we did really well in both games, but they’ve got a good manager and good players.”
Pochettino, meanwhile, is fully aware of his side’s status as underdogs coming into the game against the reigning champions, but he believes they have what it takes to upset their rivals.
“I think we are on a different level – but that doesn’t mean we cannot beat them in one game,” said the Argentine.
