LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Olivia Cato of Northgate North High School (Newnan, Ga.) was named MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week for her outstanding play during the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6.
Cato stymied her opponent’s bats tossing three shutouts, scattering six hits, holding her opponents to a .080 average and striking out 35 over 23 innings of work. She fanned a season-high 15 batters and allowed three hits in a 2-0 win over Alexander.
Cato went a season-best nine innings, striking out nine and walking one, in a two-hit blanking of South Paulding. In a second straight 1-0 nailbiter, the sophomore hurler twirled a one-hit shutout against Alexander. Cato punched out 11 more Cougar batters to bring her season total to 154.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week are announced on NFCA.orgevery Monday during the fall season, with one representative chosen from the participating regions. During the spring campaign, a player from each of five separate high school regions is selected.
