Growing up in Coonamble in NSW’s central west, Hanigan moved to Sydney to join the Sydney Rugby nursery of St Joseph’s College, progressing to the Randwick Rugby Club and now a full time Waratah.
“It means a great deal to me. I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to stay at the Waratahs,” Hanigan said.
“It’s an amazing experience to pull on the NSW jersey. We talk a lot about the heritage that this jersey holds and with the new enthusiasm coming through and the experience we have at this club I’m really looking forward to the year ahead.
“My goals are the same, I want to pull on the boots a bit more and stay injury free.”
In 2016 Hanigan made three Super Rugby caps in 2016 while bagging four tries in six games for the NSW Country Eagles in last year’s Buildcorp NRC.
Hanigan has previously represented NSW Under 20’s in 2015 before being selected for the Australian Under 20’s in the same year.
He was also a member of the Australian Schoolboys side on their 2013 Grand Slam European tour.
