LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The top two teams in the NFCA Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll remained unbeaten and unchanged, as Georgia powerhouse East Coweta and Nebraska giant Papillion-LaVista combined to go 13-0 over the last week.

East Coweta (24-0) won seven more games to remain at No. 1 for a fifth straight week, while Papillion-LaVista went 6-0 to reach 27 victories and stay second in the rankings for a third week.

The teams below them didn’t fare as well. Three losses each dropped Erie (13-3) from third to No. 15, and Blue Springs South (11-4) from fifth to No. 16, and two defeats apiece knocked Colorado schools Chatfield (16-2) and Prairie View (14-3) down 10 and nine places, respectively.

Holy Family, the top-ranked team in Colorado’s Class 4A, is the lone newcomer in this week’s poll at No. 12. The (13-1) Tigers scored three more triumphs, including a 10-7 victory over then-No. 3 Erie on Tuesday.

Nebraska’s Lincoln North Star (18-6) dropped out of the rankings this week following two more losses.

State rankings submitted by NFCA member coaches are used to compile the NFCA Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule. Five states — Colorado, Georgia, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Missouri — play a fall fastpitch schedule, while Iowa recently completed its summer season.
