James Rodriguez has been linked with a loan move to Arsenal during the January transfer window after struggling to find game time with Bayern Munich.
He is 18 months into a two year loan with the German club from Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old could join Unai Emery’s side until the end of the season for £3million.
There have been a number of other Colombian footballers to play in the Premier League.
Some have been a big hit while others have failed. Here’s a look at who was a success and who was not.
Hits
Juan Pablo Angel
A fan favourite at Aston Villa during his seven seasons with the club and was their record signing at the time costing £9.5million in 2001.
His best season came in 2003/04 when he netted 23 times in all competitions.
Hamilton Ricard
Ricard scored 33 league goals for Middlesbrough in his four year career with the club.
Twice he was their top scorer netting 15 and 12 Premier League goals in successive seasons.
Davinson Sanchez
The centre-back has impressed during his short spell at Tottenham Hotspur after signing for £42million from Ajax.
Hugo Rodallega
He enjoyed good spells in English football with both Wigan and Fulham.
Rodallega remains Wigan’s all-time Premier League top-scorer with 24 goals.
David Ospina
Ospina could not displace Petr Cech as Arsenal number one but played in 70 games for the club winning the FA Cup twice and the Community Shield.
He was often used in cup competitions and only made 29 appearances in the Premier League.
Misses
Faustino Asprilla
He went to Newcastle United with high expectations but failed to deliver. He was named as the sixth-best player in the world in 1993 and then cost Newcastle £6.7million in 1996.
He went on to score just nine goals in 48 Premier League matches over three seasons.
Juan Cuadrado
Never really lived up to expectations at Chelsea after his £23.3million transfer from Fiorentina.
After just 15 games for the Blues he was shipped out to Juventus where he has enjoyed more success.
Radamel Falcao
Was once considered one of the best strikers in the world when he was at Porto and Atletico Madrid. His goalscoring record was phenomenal for both.
A serious knee injury hampered his career and loan spells to Manchester United and Chelsea failed to deliver what they promised.
Victor Ibarbo
Ibarbo joined Watford on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2015 on loan from Cagliari but he left in the following January after making four appearances and scoring no goals.
Carlos Sanchez
Was relegated with Aston Villa during the 2015-16 Premier League season and was then loaned to Fiorentina the following year.
He also missed their FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool after he was sent off the game before.
