Huddersfield Town have released a hilarious video to confirm the appointment of Jan Siewert as head coach.
The German joined the Terriers from Borussia Dortmund II on Monday following David Wagner’s shock departure from the club.
During Huddersfield’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, pundit Gary Neville was convinced he had identified Siewert in the crowd.
Sensing a chance to get an exclusive interview with the potential new boss, Sky Sports sent journalist Patrick Davison into the crowd to grab the first word with the German.
However, the stunned spectator was left gobsmacked as he told Davison he was just ‘Martin from Wakefield’ and not a football manager.
Despite the club’s current predicament, the Terriers’ media team showed they still had a sense of humour as they included the fan in their promotional video on their social media channels.
The clip shows ‘Martin from Wakefield’ answering the telephone at Town’s training centre as he pretends to be the new boss.
However, he is given a rude awakening as Siewert himself bursts into the office, before saying: “Not now, Martin from Wakefield.”
