According to L’Équipe, Premier League side Arsenal are set to make an improved offer for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, despite yesterday’s events which saw Lyon publicly divulge information about Arsenal’s first offer.
The improved offer is set to be worth a little more than €40m.
L’Équipe journalist Bilel Ghazi explained yesterday evening that Arsenal’s opening €35m offer was to test the water and to confirm to Alexandre Lacazette that they were serious with their interest.
Arsenal know that West Ham had an offer worth €48m rejected earlier on in May and will have to at least come closer to that if they are to have any chance of signing the player.

According to sources contacted by GFFN close to the situation, Lyon really do not want to sell the player, they have not even considered a Plan B in terms of a sizeable replacement and they consider the sale of Lacazette as “suicide”.
Even an offer worth €60m, which was initially thought to be enough to prize the French striker away at the beginning of the window, is not even certain to be accepted by Lyon, who have already sold Samuel Umtiti and seem likely to part ways with Corentin Tolisso in the coming days.
