Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco are in advanced contract negotiations with free agent and former Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal, according to L’Équipe.
The Algerian has a number of sides interested in him, but so far that interest has not turned into a concrete offer from AC Milan, Southampton or Stoke.
Nice also made an approach but the player’s wage demands, having turned down an extension offer from Lyon last May worth €280k a month excluding bonuses, makes a move very unlikely for Les Aiglons.
Monaco are set to offer the player €180k a month plus a €3m signing bonus, something that Nice cannot match.
Ghezzal, who can play on the left or right wing, Will add depth to Monaco’s weakest position on the right, where Rony Lopes and Gil Dias are fighting for the starting berth and on the left, should he arrive, he could facilitate Thomas Lemar’s departure.
