As reported by RMC, Ligue 1 side Bordeaux are set to request the postponement of their Friday night league game with Marseille this week due to their squad’s ongoing battle with Covid.
21 first team players were unavailable due to testing positive for the virus ahead of the club’s Coupe de France game with Brest at the weekend. A team largely made up of youth team and reserve players lost to the fellow Ligue 1 side 3-0.
However, with stricter rules on Covid availability in the Ligue 1 – with 20 of a 30 player list needing to be available for the game to be played, the club are looking to call off the match. The match is a far more important one as FCGB battle against relegation and look to preserve a 44 year unbeaten home record against OM.
The club, L’Équipe say, are confident of winning their case as they are likely to have at least 15 players unavailable for the game.
