Following his crucial penalty miss against Nice on Monday night, which sent the capital side out of the competition before the quarter-finals for the first time in 8 years, Xavi Simons (18) took to Twitter.
On Thursday afternoon, the Dutch teenager posted a picture of himself in training and a caption in both English and French, reading “Fall, get up and, above all, learn. Thanks to everyone for the messages. We keep going!”
In the press conference following the game, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino explained that “the choice and the order of the first five takers had been decided beforehand. We thought that we could win it with just five. Then it was decided by those who felt up to it.”
The teenager has scored a penalty as recently as September of last year, converting for the PSG U19 squad in a 1-1 draw against Manchester City U19 in the UEFA Youth Cup group stage.
