In his press conference in the build-up to tomorrow’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos notably dismissed the idea that the team’s season was only starting now.
His words transcribed in L’Équipe, the Brazilian also discussed the tensions between the ultras and the club, with a protest and several banners unfurled at Friday’s win over Rennes.
“Do we throw everything we’ve done up until now in the trash? No, we’ve been working since the start of the season. We have had good and bad matches. You can’t forget everything we’ve done so far.”
“I think that the pressure around football gives us motivation and energy. You have to know how to manage it. We’re not in the worst of situations, even if we’ve been knocked out in the Coupe de France. We’re top of the league and qualified for the Champions League knockouts. The supporters are with us, they make the difference, they give us strength that they have to push us. Over to us to do our best.”
