Ligue 1 21/22 Round 26 – 27/2/22
TROYES – 1 (Touzghar 90)
Gauthier Gallon, 6
Erik Palmer-Brown, 5
Tristan Dingomé, 6
Rominigue Kouamé, 6 – He’s one of few Troyes players who regularly looks at home in Ligue 1 and is probably their most consistent performer this season. This was another battling midfield display, complemented by some astute use of the ball and protecting of possession.
Florian Tardieu, 6
Abdu Conté, 6
Ike Ugbo, 3
Yoann Salmier, 6
Adil Rami, 6 – At this stage of his career, he’s well suited to the return to a trio of centre-backs and he managed a stoic Troyes display well against his former club, leading his team with 10 defensive actions amid few problems from Payet and Dieng. Close to a 7.
Mama Baldé, 4
Issa Kaboré, 6
Others: Kone 7, Biancone 5, Touzghar 7, Chavalerin 5, Mothiba 5.
MARSEILLE – 1 (Payet 28)
Pau López, 5
William Saliba, 3 – Lapses in his concentration should have cost OM more than they did. He lost Salmier from a corner, who should have scored with his resulting point-blank free header in the first half, and he was nearly embarrassed by Balde who nipped in ahead of him but slipped when he should’ve scored after the break.
Boubacar Kamara, 6
Mattéo Guendouzi, 5 – A typical recent Guendouzi display in that he provided energy and aggression but little tangible end product or real midfield progression. Here, he took up a lot more wider positions than usual as some of his effectiveness seems to have been sacrificed in Sampaoli’s search for balance.
Gerson, 4
Dimitri Payet, 4 – He nonchalantly stroked home the penalty but offered very little in terms of creativity and was often isolated playing on his own in attack with Under and Dieng staying very wide and midfield support sparse. Failed to have a shot from open play.
Bamba Dieng, 3
Luan Peres, 4
Duje Ćaleta-Car, 5
Cengiz Ünder, 5
Valentin Rongier, 3
Others: Milik 5, Henrique 5, Gueye 5, Liorla 4, Kolašinac 5.
