Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Newcastle have held “positive” talks with Hugo Ekitike’s (19) agents after it was reported earlier in the month that a move to the Premier League side was imminent.
According to Romano, the “deal is back on track,” after a deal was struck with Reims. Newcastle are looking to finalise things on the “agent side” in order to complete the deal.
RMC have previously reported that the deal is a €36m package plus €10m in add-ons. However, sources contacted by GFFN have stated that the player is in no rush to make a decision on the future.
Ekitike limped off during France U20’s match against Mexico in the Maurice Revello (ex Toulon) Tournament, but Romano reports that the injury “isn’t as bad as first thought” and that it does not endanger Newcastle’s move for the player. This week is expected to be an important one for the deal.
