Despite interest from Southampton and Valencia in Lille forward Timothy Weah (22), Lea Dogues intend to keep hold of their American international striker next season, according to Foot Mercato.
Only a “stupendous” offer could tempt the 2020/21 champions to sell the forward. After an injury-hit start to the season, Weah began to hit his stride towards the end of the season, scoring three goals in his last two Ligue 1 fixtures, whilst also scoring for the USA national side.
It is the desire of both the player and the club that they continue their adventure together next season. The news comes after L’Équipe reported that Valencia were interested in the Lille forward, and were looking to bring him in initially on loan and with an option to buy. Premier League side Southampton were also touted as a possible destination for Weah, who has only scored 6 goals in 60 appearances for Lille.
