Despite good progress being made between Ligue 1 Lens and Premier League Crystal Palace in the negotiations over defensive midfielder Chieck Doucouré (22), Foot Mercato report that there is still no final agreement between the two clubs. The publication nonetheless report that the conclusion of the deal is very much on the horizon.
A fee of €21m plus €5m in bonuses had reportedly been agreed for the Malian international and negotiations are now down to the final details of the move. Palace have upped their offer to meet Lens’ demands, after a €17m initial bid fell short last week. The Sang et Or have also prepared for the departure of the 22-year-old, having signed the Ghanian defensive midfielder Salis Abdul Ahmed from Clermont.
Alongside Seko Fofana, Doucouré formed a crucial partnership in the heart of the Lens midfield, narrowly missing out on securing European football for next season, finishing seventh in Ligue 1. The Malian’s contract with the northern club is otherwise set to last until 2024.
