Nice have this afternoon announced that they have parted ways with Director of Football Julien Fournier, citing “strategic differences” which have led to his departure after 11 years at the club in various positions.
Both club president Jean-Pierre Rivère – his long time collaborator – and Fournier himself had admitted recently that the latter’s time at the club was likely to be up after the current transfer window.
Fournier’s departure comes in the midst of a major upheaval at management level at the club after an ultimately disappointing season. Christophe Galtier has left for Paris Saint-Germain after just one season in charge, and has been replaced by the returning Lucien Favre.

Galtier and Fournier had reportedly been at odds over the transfer dealings, while owners INEOS – speficically head of sport Dave Brailsford – were considering a number of departures. Now, Rivère has ostensibly returned to the fore for the first time since INEOS took over in 2019.
