Brest have suspended manager Michel Der Zakarian, along with his assistants Franck Rizzetto, Alexandre Garcia and David Bechkoura, with the team currently sitting rock bottom of Ligue 1 after just the one win in ten games.
The weekend’s derby defeat to Brest was ostensibly the last straw for the club, and the three men will not be back this afternoon to take the team’s training session. The Franco-Armenian coach leaves after just over a season in Brittany, and an 11th-place finish last year.
Reserve team manager Bruno Grougi, who was at the club for a decade in his playing days, has stepped into the interim role. He will be joined by goalkeeping coach Julian Lachuer and physio Yvan Bourgis. However, as pointed out by L’Équipe, Grougi will not be able to take charge in the match against Nantes, if a successor to Der Zakarian is not found by then, as he was sent off in his team’s last game
