L’Équipe report that Kylian Mbappé and his team are considering all of their options in light of Mediapart’s investigation regarding the Paris Sait-Germain’s alleged use of an “army” of fake Twitter accounts to lead campaigns against players – claims which the club has denied.
With the forward himself said to have been a target back in 2019, his decision on leaving the club is now reportedly final. He had already felt that the club did not keep its promises regarding the summer transfer window, as they failed to bring in a number nine who could line up alongside him.

One option being considered is that of terminating his contract, namely the extension he signed back in May despite links to a Real Madrid move. Given that the deal – two years with an option for a third – is a fixed-term contract, French law dictates that the World Cup winner would have to pay a high fee to PSG, potentially even more than the salary he is due over the period of the contract.
In practice, this fee would take the form of a transfer fee which his next club will pay, via Mbappé, unless the forward decides to retire straight afterwards. One specialist lawyer quizzed by L’Équipe indicated that Mediapart’s claims, if proven, could form the basis of a justified contract termination, in that PSG did not carry out their duty of loyalty, although this would be up to the judge’s interpretation.
In any case, L’Équipe indicate that the likeliest option on the table right now is for Mbappé to leave the club next summer, rather than this winter or earlier.
